Madhubani – Aqua

The Madhubani Art, practiced mainly in Bihar (India) is characterized by geometrical patterns and the attention to details that are given to the art work. The medium used for creating the paintings vary. For this painting, I have used fabric paints on cloth. With fishes on four symmetrical sides and leaves in between – this is my first attempt to add the Madhubani art to my shelf.

I made this tablecloth by painting a design using white fabric paint on a dark chocolate brown colored cloth, then added a white boundary to match. Although this is a shift from my usually colorful self :), I enjoyed the contrast and simplicity of this work.

I like keeping my home tidy and beautiful. Using colorful and beautiful cushions around gives it a cozy and elegant look. So I made these cushion covers. I painted the designs on them using fabric paint and added a lace around the boundary to give it a pretty, delicate feel. They might look delicate, but are comfortable and make the home beautiful :).
