This is a Fusion Painting I made on the occasion of an Indian festival called Durga Puja.
I love doing experiments in Art. So, this is a result of a fusion experiment of mine.
I have tried to depict a conglomeration of Goddess Durga’s divine radiance, people playing Dhak* and lost in worshipping her along with the Goddess’s favorite flowers (red Hibiscus) on the top corners. Paan (Betel) leaf and the Kaash grass (wild grass which grows just before the starting of Durga Puja) also have made their way into this painting.
I enjoy working with water paints and Gel pens as a combination. This painting was done by a combination (fusion) of Water painting, colored pen Zentangle art, color pencils shading, and Black Gel pen doodle work – on sketching paper.
*Dhak: is a huge membranophone instrument from India. The shapes differ from the almost cylindrical to the barrel. Dhak-Drum beats are an integral part of Durga Puja. It is mostly played by the Bengali community. It is said that “Durga Puja does not assume the festive aura without the maddening beats of the dhak, the large drum that men hang around their necks and play with two thin sticks to infuse the frenzied rhythm into listeners. Those enchanting beats are enough to conjure up the sights and smells of Durga Puja.“
Medium: Fusion (Water painting, Gel pens, Color pencils) on Sketching paper, Size: 11.7 in × 16.5 in
