Usually, the parrots that we find in our neighborhood are green. However, there does exist a variety of parrots which possess a multi-colored body. In this painting, I’ve drawn one such colorful parrot, in its typical pose. This is done using glass paints on a tile – a tile that is seen plastered on walls!
I love making paintings of lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is such a good model :) This was the first Ganesha painting I ever did – it was a really long time ago. I remember that time, it was early spring and it just occurred to me – why not make a portrait of lord Ganesha. And he looks quite happy in this avatar of his.
Since then, I have not stopped making portraits of lord Ganesha.
In general, people think that black is not good color. This beautiful combination of a red Lily on black background shows that black in not a bad color at all, it is beautiful.
I made this painting on a canvas. I made it around the halloween day last year. The background of this painting is based on my imagination of halloween spirit – ghostly and mysterious. The red rose is making its presence felt on the various shades of halloween-ish green in the background.
Flowers on a Hankie
Fresh flowers on hankie
Fresh flower and uprising buds on handkerchiefs. It is done using wash resistant fabric colors.
This is a zari, glitter and acrylic color on a traditional tea cup! Shades of white on top and bottom over a layer of black mark the boundaries. I have used zari and glitter to decorate the area in between. Do you see pistachio shells? Yes, they are partially coated in read an blue over and below the zari strip. I have tried to portray the signature of tribal art through the special shading strokes of white.
I like experimenting with putty, roses and terracotta – they are one of my favorites. This terracotta pot has a rose made out of putty on its side. Although, making a rose out of putty is always fun, it is not so easy to have one on a clay pot. I have to delicately hold the freshly made rose on the pot for a while with glue applied, so that it stays permanently. In addition to the black background, I applied some glitter to the pot to compliment the presence of the rose.
I thought of decorating this almost perfectly spherical terra-cotta pot with bright colors. Orange and deep blue instantaneously struck a chord. After setting the base colors, I added symmetric designs on opposite sides using clay and glitter.
Earthen lamps are of great significance when it comes to worshiping in India.
This lamp stand which has two lamps is suitable for being lighted either for the purpose of worshiping or as a welcome lamp used during traditional occasions.
This piece is made up of a couple of things – the structure itself is made up of two kulhads (earthen glasses – typically used for having tea in rural areas) placed on top of each other. I have used clay to make the roses. The roses compliment the beauty of lighting the lamps.
The vibrant Dahlia flower on golden amber leaves. It is a still life painting which shows different contrasts of two beautiful colors pink and yellow.
