Kerala is renowned for its exceptional geographical features, which have cemented its position as a top tourist destination in Asia. During my summer vacation in Kerala, I was captivated by the stunning sea beaches and breathtaking natural beauty that surrounded me. My painting pays tribute to two distinct aspects of Kerala’s rich culture and traditions.
On one side, I have depicted the intricate beauty of the Kathakali dance mask. The Kathakali dance form is a theatrical performance that features elaborate makeup, face painting, and stylized masks. The name Kathakali is derived from the Sanskrit words katha (story) and kali (to play or perform), and it involves the use of colorful makeup, masks, and costumes worn by performers. The depth and richness of the Kathakali dance form are portrayed here.
On the other side, I have portrayed the famous Vallamkali, also known as the Boat Race of Kerala, in a stunning sunset view on the sea. The Vallamkali is a thrilling boat race that is enjoyed by everyone. It is a traditional sporting event that features boats that are colorfully decorated, and rowed by a team of skilled oarsmen. This painting captures the essence of the Vallamkali, showcasing its beauty and vibrancy in a magnificent sunset setting.
