Materials needed:
- For the base:
- Colored pages from Newspapers – Regular or Glossy
- Cardboard
- Ribbon
- Used Matchsticks
- Fevicol
- Scissors
- For decorating the peacock:
- Pistachio shells
- Oil-Pastel colors
- Black sketch pen
- Glitter paints
- Colorful chumkis
Steps:
- Cut the newspaper pages into shape of leaves with the help of scissors. Make six such leaves.
- Next, take the cardboard and cut it into the shape of a bowling-pin – this acts as the body of the peacock. Next cut a beak, two small circles for eyes and two claws.
- Next, color the body of the peacock sky-blue, beak and claws orange with oil-pastels.
- Color the eyes black with a sketch pen.
- Take four used matchsticks and stick them on the top of the peacock’s body (on the side which was left uncolored) to form the hood. Stick four blue colored chumkis on the top of the front side of the matchsticks.
- Take 5 cm long ribbon piece and fold it from the centre to form a hook and stick it behind the matchsticks. This will be used to hang the peacock on the wall.
- Stick the beak, claws and the eyes on the peacock’s body. Make sure that only upper half of the claw sticks on the body.
- Now stick six leaf shaped newspaper pieces behind the peacock’s body. The wings/feathers of the peacock are thus ready.
- Decorate the feathers by using pistachio shells, chumkis, glitter-paints and other decorative items as per your taste.
